Springs Part 1

“Jesus replied, ‘If you only knew the gift God has for you and Who you are speaking to, you would ask me, and I would give you Living water…But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.’” John 4:10&14 (NLT)

We ended last week with John 4:14 and I want to pick up there. We know that springs flow from an underground source and they open at or near the surface. They can flow into the bed of a stream, lake or sea. They are referred to as the “eye of the landscape”, a natural burst of living water. They have captured the imagination of scientists and artists alike.

These kiddos also bring me life! We welcomed Jayla Grace on January 12th. Lil’peanut is doing great and she is loved and protected by Jaydon and Jayme. Also Lil’man lost his first tooth! How is he old enough for that?!

“Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from the heart of anyone who believes in me.’” John 7:37&38

As we are connected to Jesus, the Living Water, we can have a source that not only will bring us life and meet our needs (meets us where we are at) BUT bring life to others!! We are not supposed to stop the flow of the spring. We should allow the fresh, bubbling spring that is now within us to pour out to quench the thirst and bring life to the people around us.

If a natural spring brings beauty and wonder to the landscape around it, how much more should we draw others in to see the greatness and grace of the Living, Loving Father?

Buckle up, friends! We’re going to quickly look at a few other spots we see God in all His self-sustaining glory.

Genesis 3:2 Moses sees a burning bush that is not being consumed. It does not need any outside fuel to keep it burning. Because God is the fire, it has all it needs to burn. (I think I’m going to come back to that one in a later blog, so much good stuff!)

John 6:35 “Jesus replied, ‘I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty again.” When we are hungry, we need something to eat to fill us and fuel us. Jesus is the bread of life, the divine provision we need to meet our needs. Our life flows out of God’s self-existent life. (see John 6:51)

John 15:5 “Yes, I am the vine, you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.” Jesus shared this at the Passover dinner, before His arrest and cruxifiction. When you know you are dying you share what you really want others to know. Jesus knew that a deep, growing relationship was the only way we would have hope, peace, strength and joy for every thing life will throw at us. As the branches, we cannot bear fruit unless we are connected to the Vine, the life-giving source. We are not made to be self-sufficient, we are made to be connected to Jesus and each other.

Exodus 3:14 “God said to Moses, ‘I Am Who I Am. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I am has sent me to you.’” God IS! Mic drop. Good night, thanks for coming. God is self-existent, He is eternal, unchangeable and incomprehensible. He is faithful to all His promises.

God provides what we need:
Manna and quail in the desert. Ram in the thicket. Oil in the jars. Courage to go before the King. Water turned to wine. Food for the thousands. Healing the sick, lame and forgiving the broken…

Some of the most powerful words in the Bible is when Jesus said: “I am willing.” In Matthew 8:1-3 Jesus came down the mountain to a large crowd and a leper knelt before Him and said: “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.”

Jesus’ whole posture and heart is of love and healing. He is willing but more than that He is the source.

“How priceless is your unfailing love!
Both high and low among men find refuge in the shadow of your wings.
They feast on the abundance of your house; you give them drink from your river of delights.
For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light.” Psalm 36:7-9

Whatever we face on a daily basis or if we are fighting a battle, all we need is in I AM!
May we never think we can do it on our own and wander away from our source of life and victory.

Have an amazingly, beautiful day knowing you have all you need today!
All My Love,
Jodi xoxo
