It’s Just Saturday

If you’re new here, welcome! If you’ve been here, then you know that I like to listen to sermons while I torture myself on my bike. It was a couple of weeks ago and I don’t remember exactly what Levi Lusko said, but God dropped something in my heart that was powerful for me and I can’t shake it.

He shared about the Friday that Jesus died. They couldn’t prepare Jesus’ body with the spices and oil because the sun set and it was Sabbath. They had to rest in their pain all through Saturday.

As I was “sweatin’ it out” I thought of all my ‘Friday’s’. All the times I had to sit with my pain. All the times I wasn’t sure if we were going to make it. Each of us can share a ‘Friday’ pain that we had to sit with. We have wrestled with our doubts, our fears, our hopelessness, the loss, the diagnosis …

We know what it feels like to sit not knowing, hoping, but not knowing if it will turn around. We can relate to Mary and the others sitting around the table waiting. Waiting and grieving. Knowing they should eat but not hungry, a little dazed while being consumed with sadness and confusion.

Revelation 1:17&18 ~ “…Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.”

While they were resting in their pain, Jesus was battling in hell for us! God not only meets us in our pain, he delivers us from it!

“By His divine power, God has given us everything we need for a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know Him, the One who called us to Himself by His marvelous glory and excellence.”
2 Peter 1:3

E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G. we need ~ we have! Because:
Jesus defeated hell, death, doubt, add whatever you want to put on the list…He defeated all of it for our freedom, our healing, our wholeness, our hope.

Yes, we may need to rest in the pain, the not knowing, and that can suck. BUT! It’s Just Saturday!! The “fat lady” isn’t singing. The gig is not up.

I mean, come on! That should get us jumping and shooting confetti guns! Put it on a T-shirt! It’s Just Saturday!

For every hurt ~ It’s Just Saturday!!
For every fear ~ It’s Just Saturday!!
For every doubt ~ It’s Just Saturday!!
For every addiction ~ It’s Just Saturday!!
For every battle ~ It’s Just Saturday!!

Let’s not get it twisted, I know life is hard and overwhelming. I’m not saying to pretend or gloss over what we are walking through. I’m encouraging myself and hopefully you, to remember that as Christ-followers, we not only have the same power that raised Jesus from the dead. We have a risen Savior that won!!!

Isn’t it interesting that because of Sabbath, a day set aside for rest, they had to sit and wait. What a great reminder that when we can do nothing, God is at work!

It’s just Saturday, baby! God is working on your behalf and Sunday is coming!!!

I hope you have a great day!!
P.S. Turn up the song, have church and celebrate!
All My Love ~
