Why Do We Do That?!
I’d like to continue for a minute on the subject of being seen and loved by God. I know in my life there are many things that can get in way of me believing and then receiving His unconditional love for me.
What people have spoken over me
What I have spoken to myself
What I see in the mirror; on all the socials; magazines; movies; TV; in my family or friend group; the lobby at church…
Replaying all the ways I failed
Sometimes I was not enough
Sometimes I was too much
Expecting too much out of myself
Does this ring true for you too? Can you add to the list?
We can become chameleons to fit in with or find acceptance with each group we are with. We try to hide flaws and failures so we can be validated and accepted by others.
It’s just so exhausting trying to be perfect. It’s overwhelming to keep up the facade. Why? Why do we put that pressure on ourselves?
Is what others accept and love about us who we really are? Or if we tell the truth will it jeopardize our relationship with them? What a tightrope we walk on. Even the slightest breeze will topple everything.
We keep hearing the mantra of being true to who you are. Find your authentic self and live your life your way.
People may be fooled, God is not.
I can only find out who I am really in the Word of God. I cannot get the baseline of my authentic self outside of His love for me, who He says I am and what He’s done for me!
Everything I think about myself, say to myself, believe about myself and then how I interact with the world around me needs to come from His heart for me.
Remember in the garden when Adam and Eve hid from God? He called to them and they didn’t answer like they had before. They didn’t go running to Him to take their evening walk and talk about everything that happened that day. He knew. He wanted them to tell Him. Have you thought about after they were forced out of the garden, that God still walked with them? He still looked after them. He was involved. He confronted Cain about Able’s death; He led Rachel to Jacob; He spoke to Noah and Moses and Abraham. (Just to name a few)
“For the LORD will not forsake his people; he will not abandon his heritage.” Micah 7:7
Just because we hide, doesn’t mean He stops loving. He cannot heal or make whole and healthy what we hide.
If our relationship with God is based on pretending and lies, we will never fully know His acceptance of us. We will miss out on knowing the beauty and freedom of knowing how important we are to Him.
I don’t know about you but that’s what I want. I want to be fully submerged in His love and acceptance of me.
I don’t know where you are at with the whole “you do you, boo” thing but I invite you to sit with your Bible, ask the Holy Spirit to speak to you and allow God to pour who He says you are into your heart. Let it transform your mind. Let’s live free and whole knowing how truly loved we are. Everything good flows from there.
Remember how much you are seen and loved!
Have the most incredible, amazing day!!
All My Love ~
