It’s My Business
Have you heard the saying: “It’s as slow as molasses going uphill in January”? It may be a New England thing. That’s how I feel right now. It feels hard to keep moving. Anyone else? Words are important to me. For so many years, I did not have the words to say how I was feeling. I used TV, movies and books to escape and get lost in fictional worlds. It was easier than dealing with what was happening in mine and not having the tools to express myself.
As I got older, the reading led to finding validation for what I was feeling as well as giving me words to express them.
Our feelings are important and deserve a safe place to be expressed, received and validated. But they are not to rule us. They need something more secure and steadfast. We need an anchor of hope, discipline, reason. The cart does not lead the horse. We need to get that straight.
This lil’lady is a world changer! And this is my current mood. We are supposed to be going on a trip, with the grand-kiddos (with Jessi), up to New England to meet family…are we? can we? ugh!!!!!
My mom used to tell us your feelings are your feelings, they’re not right or wrong. What you do with them is right or wrong. Have you found if you hold onto or hide what your feeling/dealing with that your reactions are over the top?! Things can go sideways fast! Feel your feelings and remember that “God comforts the downcast…” (2 Corinthians 7:6a). Where are we finding our comfort? How are we dealing with our feelings?
At the moment, mine are resembling a roller coaster. I’m getting whiplash. But God! God is faithful and we can go to Him with our pain.
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Psalms 34:18
My daughter, Rene’ introduced me to Tabitha Brown, we lllooovvveee her! I think we could be friends in real life! I follow her on the gram, but she is also on youtube. Give her a follow, you’ll fall in love and leave your few moments with her encouraged and smiling. You’re welcome! Thank you @iamtabithabrown for being a light in this time! Can we be friends?!?!? xoxo
I find myself grateful in the midst of the sadness. I’m grateful for a God who is so powerful and yet so personal. He doesn’t tell me what I’m feeling is stupid or foolish. He allows me space to feel it, but then says: “OK, let’s get up. Wash your face, eat something, exercise, call a friend, go for a ride. We can do this together. Just take one step.” I’m also grateful for a husband who also gives me space and room … and gets me fries and a shake for dinner. Don’t judge. “It’s my business.” Thank you Tabitha for those words and the freedom they bring.
“If God is for us, who can be against us?
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels or demons, nether the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height or depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 8: 31, 35, 37-39
No matter where you are in the gambit of life right now, you are not alone. There is a God who loves you and will be there for you, aaannnddd me too! We are stronger together! You have a voice here and I would love to hear from you.
And don’t forget to take a moment and celebrate something in your life, big or small!
All My Love ~
Jodi xoxo
