Easter and Zombies

Hey you guys! How are you doing with being inside and creating a new normal for life? It’s crazy and I have all the emotions that come with it: coping, so not coping, bored, happy I got a project done or tried a new recipe, lonely. I miss my family and friends. One thing I have been doing to keep busy and keep screen time down is coloring. I got a coloring book a few years ago for Mother’s Day (thank you Crosspoint). I was coloring this picture and memorizing the scripture, I thought how perfect it was for Easter week.

I was thinking about the “old things have passed away” part of the scripture and got the picture of zombies walking around in our lives. We all have that unhealthy habit or thought (zombies). We have worked on believing God and His Word, standing on faith … doing all we can to kill them and yet they keep walking around in our lives stirring up all kinds of trouble.

The things in my life that hold me captive: that unhealthy habit or thought that I continually turn back to can become powerless in my life. Not because of my willpower, but because of what Jesus did.

He was beaten, humiliated and died a horrible death so that we can be forgiven and free.

The power isn’t in the death; the power is in the resurrection! It is that death-defying power that changes us!

How can we be confident in who we are in Jesus? How can we know, for sure, that we are a new person? When we see those zombies in our lives, we can yell “dead man walking” and keep walking instead of trying to resuscitate them back to life.

“If anyone is in Christ” part of the scripture is the answer. First, if we believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that He died for my sins and we have proclaimed that in our lives. Then, it’s the daily being in Jesus. Sometimes hourly, sometimes minute-by-minute. Can I get an Amen?!

The daily believing that:

  • I am His child (John 1:12)

  • He is my friend (John 15:15)

  • I am chosen (Ephesians 1:3-8)

  • I am complete in Him (Colossians 2:9-10)

  • I cannot be separated from His love (Romans 8:31-39)

  • I have power, love and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7)

  • I am His masterpiece (Ephesians 2:10)

  • I can anything through Jesus and His power (Philippians 4:13).

This is a short list of who we are in Him. Make one that speaks directly to you and what you deal with.

God created the world by speaking. When we speak the promises of God out loud, we are creating an atmosphere where God can move. I heard Pastor Michael Todd say; “The Kingdom of God is voice-activated”. I really like that. We can change how we think, act, respond when we declare who we are IN CHRIST!

This Easter is going to be so different not being together with our family and friends. My prayer for us is that we know we are not alone and that it was God’s fierce love for us that provided a way for us to know Him and be completely, unconditionally loved by Him!

Happy Easter!

All my love ~ Jodi xoxo
